I trained as an illustrator from the City and Guilds of London Art school between 1990-1993.During this time I developed an interest in printmaking, particularly lino and wood cuts, which I still create to this present day.
I qualified as an Art Psychotherapist in 1997 and this continues to be my main area of work. I am currently in the role of Clinical Supervisor at Ulster University, MSc Art Psychotherapy course and I facilitate a small private practice at my studio in Bangor, Co Down .I joined Boom Studios Bangor in 2017 as a studio member and workshop facilitator. I developed a programme of workshops called ,’Art for the heart’. These workshops are available for adults, teens and children, where the primary focus is on art for well being where the creating, experience, process and connection are the main aims and objectives. These workshops enable participants to explore and experiment with a wide variety of mixed media and in the process learn new skills from gelli plate printing to creating and making bespoke art journals from found materials and junk.
My aesthetic art practice continues alongside my personal practice. I enjoy using mixed media, layers, acryllics, watercolour and lino cut prints. In 2023 I exhibited with the artists at Boom Studios at Castle Espie WetlandsCentre. I am currently working towards a group exhibition this July to celebrate ten years of Boom Studios in Bangor.
